Lockdown Blues

What makes you feel blue is it the lockdown or something else entirely?

What does it mean to feel caged not in someone else’s prison, but in your own home, your own mind?

When will it end?

And when it does, will everything really feel normal again?

When Silence Felt Like Freedom

When lockdown first began, I was at peace even happy.

I didn’t have to go out.

I didn’t have to deal with people or their judgments.

I didn’t feel the need for friends, because I believed I had none.

I felt safe in my shell.

But even then, I felt sad  for those who couldn’t afford the same stillness.

When Freedom Felt Like a Cage

But half a year later, the silence became suffocating.

I began to feel trapped not just physically, but emotionally.

And that’s when I truly understood what it must feel like to be an animal in a cage.

Locked, controlled, voiceless while someone else decides your movements.

Humans are cruel, in the name of convenience, we trap birds, sell animals, chain beings all for profit or pleasure.

But every living soul craves the same two things: Freedom and love.

When Illusions Broke

Lockdown didn’t just confine bodies  it revealed truths.

I saw sides of people I had never noticed before.

Some made me feel invisible.

Some made me feel unworthy.

But a few… made me feel seen.

It was in isolation that I realized how many of my beliefs about people were just illusions.

We think we know others until we disagree with them.

Then, their real faces show.

Let me tell you something:

If people love you only when you obey them, you are not loved.

You are controlled.

Try doing something for yourself just once.

Something they didn’t expect.

Something you want.

Now observe:

Do they withdraw? Get angry? Guilt-trip you?

If yes they were never for you.

They were only for their own comfort.

The Turning Point: Self-Worth

And that’s when it hit me my worth is mine to define.

Your goodwill is in your own hands.

You don’t owe anyone your silence, your sacrifice, or your obedience just to be “liked.”

You must align your heart and head.

You must begin to live in a way that makes you feel worthy, real, and at peace.

We live in a generation that is faking happiness.

We post smiles but carry sadness.

We compromise with our dreams just to appear "fine" to the world.

But deep down, we all crave the same thing: Someone to cry with, to share ourselves with  no pretending, no adjusting, no masks. Just raw, unfiltered connection.

The Unspoken Pain: Taunting

You know the worst thing about being locked at home?

It’s not boredom.

It’s not silence.

It’s taunting.

If you’ve ever been taunted day after day you know what I mean.

It gets stuck. Not in your throat but somewhere between your chest and mind.

And no matter how hard you try to ignore it, it lingers…

like constipation of the soul.

Yes, I said it.

Because that's how it feels you try to let go, move on, stay calm… but it doesn't leave.

Those words… echo.

Again and again.

The Cage Inside Us

Lockdown may have lifted.

The roads may be open again.

The world may have returned to “normal.”

But what about the cage inside?

If you’ve felt stuck, hurt, unseen, or misunderstood you’re not alone.

Let this be your reminder:

You are not wrong for wanting space.

You are not selfish for seeking peace.

You are not dramatic for needing gentleness.

Your story matters.

Even in silence.

Especially in silence.
