IF MUSIC WERE A PERSON: THE THERAPIST WE ALL DESERVE

I wish I could talk to all my songs in person

If only music were a person, the world would be softer. Calmer. More healed.

It would be the kind of person who doesn't judge, doesn't interrupt, and always understands no matter what you’re going through.

Heartbreak? Head to the Romantic Music Department

Imagine walking into a hospital for emotional pain. But instead of sterile walls and injections, you walk into the Romantic Music Department.

You’re handed a prescription not of pills, but of songs.

And you’re not alone.

There are counselors musical healers  who guide you through the lyrics, help you feel the emotion behind each note, and gently show you that…

“It’s okay to not be accepted.”

“It’s okay to feel shattered.”

“This is not the end. Music has seen it all. And survived.”

Because just like you'd talk to a wise person when you're down, you'd go to a genre that knows how to handle hearts.

I Wish I Could Talk to My Songs

I wish I could talk to my favorite songs in person.

To thank them.

To ask them how they knew exactly what I felt.

To tell them they were there when no one else was.

But here's the problem not every song deserves that love. Today, many so-called “songs” are just clickbait with background noise. Vulgar lyrics, mindless beats, soulless intent.

Music, once a healer, is becoming a money machine. And that’s dangerous because songs shape minds.

We wouldn’t bat an eye if a kid sang a devotional bhajan in front of elders. We’d clap. But imagine the same kid rapping something like "Char bottle vodka, kaam mera roz ka..."  now you’re uncomfortable.

Why the reaction?

Because you know music affects more than mood it affects morality, identity, and culture. Songs don’t just enter ears. They enter minds.

That’s why we need a system a Music & Lyrics Commission, perhaps. Something that can maintain the standards of what’s released. Because if we’re policing films and web series for content why not music?

Music has power. Let's protect that power.

Songs Heal More Than Therapy Sometimes

Let’s be real therapy is amazing.

But sometimes, you don’t want a room, a couch, or a voice asking, "And how did that make you feel?"

Sometimes, all you need is a quiet corner, your headphones, and the right melody.

Because when:

your mind is loud,

your heart is angry,

your soul feels tired,

Songs can enter where nothing else can.

Music vs. Medication

Ever thought about what medications do when we’re mentally unwell?

They balance our dopamine levels. Suppress certain neurotransmitters to calm the mind.

Now here’s the magic:

Certain songs do the same thing.

You feel brave when you listen to a powerful track.

You feel happy when that pop beat drops.

You feel nostalgic with a melody that reminds you of childhood.

It’s non-chemical therapy, one beat at a time.

Songs That Stick When Everyone Else Leaves

There are days when you feel abandoned.

When people leave.

When nothing makes sense.

And there, in that void music stays.

Unmoved. Unbothered. Unconditionally present.

Some lyrics feel like they were written just for you.

They tell you what lectures couldn’t.

They explain emotions that even you couldn’t name.

“Songs don’t heal you overnight.

But they hold you until you begin healing yourself.”

Be Mindful of What You Consume

Your playlist is not just sound it's shaping your subconscious.

So choose your music the way you'd choose your food, your friends, your thoughts.

Pick lyrics that nourish.

Pick melodies that elevate.

Pick rhythms that align with who you want to become.

Music is more than entertainment.

It’s a companion. A teacher. A balm.

If music were a person, they’d say: “I don’t need you to be perfect.

Just plug in, breathe out, and let me carry the weight for a while.”
